LOCK up or lose it is the message police have put out, as motorbikes, mopeds and bicycles are being stolen from outside houses in Trowbridge.

A Piaggio Vespa scooter was stolen from outside a house overnight last Monday(April 11) and officers were called to Sparrow Street last Wednesday after a Carrera bike was stolen in just five minutes as the owner visited a friend.

They were then called to Manor Road a day later after a green British Eagle bike was stolen when it was left outside a house for just 45 minutes.

A child’s Apollo Evade bike was stolen between 3-5.30pm on Saturday afternoon in Dursley Road and a Yamaha XT motorbike was taken from outside a property in Cavell Court on Sunday night.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "We would like to remind people to secure their belonging. A few of the calls we have received are for bikes that are not secure and people are opportunists. Even if you are visiting someone for five minutes, it is worthwhile to take the time to save yourself the aggravation of having it stolen.

We are able to recover a lot of stolen bikes so we welcome people to report it as well.”
