SERVING the needs of multiple community groups in Trowbridge, the newly-revamped girl guiding hall was unveiled to the public over the weekend after a £16,000 renovation.

Located in Trowbridge Park, the hall was in dire need of being updated into the 21st Century according to chairman of the Trowbridge Girl Guiding Hall Committee, Marion Davies and the results of their hard work was shown to the public on Saturday.

She said: “The unveiling was really good and everyone was very pleased by it. The whole committee who have been working on it are very happy with how it looks now and how the day went. Thankfully it stayed dry and we were able to do the opening outside and all our visitors enjoyed the buffet lunch we put on as well.”

The hall was closed for around a month over the course of last year to allow for improvements to be made including the installation of a new kitchen, new floors, windows and the repainting of all outside walls and timber.

Concrete and block paving was also laid down to improve mobility access.

Craft sessions, sewing clubs as well as narcotics anonymous meet at the girl guiding hall every week and Mrs Davies hopes the new look will encourage other groups to hold sessions and events there.

“The refurbishments is bringing the hall up to date and we are pleased that the community are using it because we have lots of bookings,” she added.

The hall secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Bridge House Community Trust and Trowbridge Area Board.

The West Wiltshire Division president Rosalyn Clark officially opened the hall along with town crier Trevor Heeks.
