NINE-YEAR-OLD Rosa Evans managed to raise £50 for The Grove Primary in Trowbridge to help replace rare breed chickens that were stolen last month.

Rosa, who is in Year 5 at the school, raised the money with her mum Lynda Barry as they hosted Arty Kids in the newly refurbished Girl Guiding Hut in Trowbridge.

“Rosa did very well and it was a huge success,” her mum said.

“The hall was full within 15 minutes of opening and the comments we got were fantastic.

“After hearing that the chickens were stolen, Rosa asked me if we could donate something towards replacing them and she decided that whatever she could make on the Saturday she would donate. For a nine-year-old, she’s very thoughtful and tries to donate a lot of her pocket money to charity.”

The pair started Arty Kids earlier this year where families can go along and paint a piece of pottery for less than a fiver.

The cheque was handed over to the school this week.

Ms Parry said a number of sessions have been lined up including on June 18 from 10am-5pm.
