QUALITY products, affordable prices and excellent service is something that all businesses strive to achieve.

And in the two years since it moved into the former HJ Knee department store in Trowbridge, Premier Furniture Warehouse believes it has achieved just that.

Founded by Karl Maggs and Dermot Donaghy, the furniture store employs a small yet dedicated team to serve the town and further afield for all their furniture needs – a business idea that came about by pure chance.

Mr Maggs said: “Dermot and I have known each other for a few years and we were both in the furniture trade and that is how we came up with the idea to start our own business.

“This building became available when Knees moved and it was a chance conversation between Dermot and Marcus Holbrow of Knees that led us to take up this space. It just seemed too good of an opportunity to miss.

“I think there are a number of things that work for our business. We are open seven days a week and that helps. We also do free delivery to BA14 and outside that area, we only charge for the diesel to get there. It is an affordable service as we also offer a disposal service which we keep to a minimum.

“There are a couple of things that mean a lot to our customers and one is that there is free assembly.

“We also try to source as much of our stock locally if we can. The UK takes priority and a minimum of 75 per cent of what we sell if from the UK. People find that very important and we are very friendly with our suppliers and we have a good relationship with them.”

The pair, who previously run Premier Interiors in The Shires Shopping Centre, have said while customer trends have changed, their ethos has remained the same.

Mr Donaghy added: “We pride ourselves on quality products, affordable prices and excellent service and we try to adhere to that.

“A reason for different trends is repeated business. People will come in to buy a bed and then they will come back for a sofa which I think shows how good our customer service is.”
