POLICE would like to hear from a woman who reported a man to a member of Tesco staff in Trowbridge after walking out of the store with goods worth £2,400 on Tuesday.

The theft happened at around 8pm at the Tesco store in County Way when the man entered the store and selected a number of bottles of alcohol from the shelf, as well as bread and frozen goods, worth approximately £2,400 in total.

He filled a trolley and then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the goods.

He walked through the car park to a silver Toyota Avensis which had two other men inside. They then left the area.

Two men, aged 35 and 33, both from Coventry, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Local crime investigator Roz Hadden said: "We believe the man was seen by a woman who was shopping in the store at the time. This woman approached a member of staff to report the incident. I am really keen to make contact with her or any other witnesses.

"Please call 101 immediately. Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
