THE traditional Hilperton's Village Family Fete once again proved to be a huge success as over 1000 people attended and at least £1500 was raised for local causes.

The fete, held on Saturday, included a multitude of family fun at the village hall and field, such as train rides, music, a bouncy castle, hook-a-duck, face painting, cub camps and much more.

A number of charities and local groups, including St Michael’s Preschool, the Hilperton gardening club and floristry group manned a stall to raise money and celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

Sonja Kotevska, who has organised the fete for the past five years, said the day was a great success.

"We were very lucky with the weather. It drizzled just before and just after which was great," she said.

"This was a huge success, which was relatively surprising considering the forecast, but it was a wonderful event giving a bit back to the community.

"It surpassed my expectations, everyone had a great time, the atmosphere was superb and we are already looking forward to the 2017 edition."
