STUDENTS from John of Gaunt dressed to impress at their sixth form leavers’ ball at the Fieldways Hotel.

About 40 Year 13 pupils along with one who was at Glastonbury, joined staff and teachers to celebrate their academic successes before leaving the Trowbridge sixth form on June 24.

The sun came out to herald their arrival at the venue in Hilperton Road, with one student making a most spectacular entrance in her brother’s vintage Spitfire.

Linda Brunt, head of sixth form at John of Gaunt, said it was a fantastic night organised brilliantly by senior students Katie Rae and Abena Biney.

“A fantastic night was had by both students and staff,” she added.

“This year Fieldways hosted the event and great fun was had by all and we had almost 100 per cent attendance from our Year 13. A virtual student even attended all the way from Glastonbury. It was a great evening that marked the culmination of two years' hard work for the students.”

The night had a red and white theme and tables were decked in co-ordinating balloons, candles and tea lights.

Each table also had a personal message from a subject teacher or tutor.

Later in the evening, partygoers were able to create lifelong memories with a homemade 'groovy booth' with Polaroid camera.

Most of the props ended up with the students on the dance floor as they danced the night away with many of the staff.

Awards were presented in categories such as best dressed male and best hair, and each student received a personal award inspired by key moments from their two years in the sixth form.
