A FOUR day art exhibition will be coming to the Wine Street Gallery in Devizes, with some profits being donated to Help for Heroes.

The artworks by Mike Rennie, of Trowbridge, will be displayed at the gallery in the White Horse Business Centre, Hopton Road, with a private viewing tomorrow (Friday 15) and will feature at the gallery until August 20 from.

Mr Rennie said: “For many years I was college leader in foundation Art and Design at Wiltshire College, and the constant contact with colleagues and students played a big role in my life. As does the encouragement from Wine St. Gallery @ No 10.”

Showing a mix of artistic styles, from the more abstract forms to portrait, the exhibition is promising to offer something for everyone. The private view opening tomorrow will be raising money for Help for Heroes with five per cent of the profits of any sold painting being donated.

Mr Rennie added: “As far as I can recall I have always drawn, painted and made things. I am interested in the relationship within composition weather it’s via Land/Seascape or objects and their context. Visual narrative, research and transcription become part of the creative process, as does history and previous art movements. Some works stay as more or less straight forward depictions, whereas developments and reinventions can take a different direction and lead to collages and constructions.”

Already having exhibitions at Wine Street Gallery, owner Dawn Gilbraith is eager to see his work return.

Mrs Gilbraith said: “He is a fantastic artist and his work is great. He is so talented, he paints with oil and some of his pieces are wonderful. One of my favourite pieces is a painting of my favourite beach in Cornwall which is lovely.”
