AN ASPIRING Wingfield beauty pageant contestant hopes her charitable endeavours pay off after shaving her head to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Chloe Peters from Wingfield braved the shave in aid of raising money as part of the Miss Charity Heart pageant taking place in Birmingham in February next year.

The contestant who raises the most for BHF wins the Miss Charity Crown.

“This year I chose to do a head shave as it is something I have always wanted to do and now seemed like the right time to do it in aid of a good cause and to break the stereotypes of beauty queens,” the 20-year-old added.

“There are many inspirational women with shaved heads from my personal friends to fictional characters who all inspire me both with their unique looks, personality and admirable qualities.

“I also have a friend who lost her hair due to chemotherapy who did a series of glamorous bald photos which have always stuck in my head. I also hope to do a number of creative powerful photo shoots.”

Having already raised £350 from the shave which took place in Swindon, Miss Peters, who works at McDonald's, hopes to call on the support of family, friends and colleagues to beat the current £500 target in hope of claiming the crown.

“I am really looking forward to the experience and even if I don't win I hope I stick in the judge’s minds for my uniqueness and confidence and that I inspire others, proving that beauty comes in many looks.

“I think the thing I have found most interesting since having it done is how I’ve been able to experience things in different ways like learning more about the shape of my face and making sure to put sun protection lotion on when it is a sunny day.

“I think it is quite good that people don’t have to have the same look and the pageant is about being confident in yourself. Even if I don’t win or do particularly well, it would have raised awareness and for me that is what has made the experience worth it.”
