A 29-YEAR-OLD who arrived at his brother's flat when it was being raided by the drugs squad was found to be carrying a bag loaded with pills and cannabis.

Arkadiusz Jedrzejewski had hundreds of pounds worth of drugs which he insists he was looking after for his younger brother.

And after hearing that the sibling received just a fine after prosecutors accepted he had the drugs for 28-year-old Damian...

Anthony Bailey, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court how police raided the property at The Old Mill on Ashton Street in November 2014.

While officers were searching the property Arkadiusz arrived with a leather man bag over his shoulder.

He was asked to put the bag on the floor and when it was searched it was found to contain ecstasy, amphetamines and cannabis worth up to £705 in street deals.

Mr Bailey said along with three tablets of MDMA, the chemical term for ecstasy, he also had two-and-a-half fragments of pills

He also had about half an ounce of herbal cannabis, slightly more resin and about 15 grams of amphetamines.

When he was questioned by police he refused to answer questions and initially pleaded not guilty to possessing drugs with intent to supply.

But before a jury could be sworn in on the first day of his trial Jedrzejewski, of The Down, Trowbridge, changed his pleas to guilty.

The court heard that while he has no previous convictions in the UK he was jailed for drugs matters in his homeland as well as making threats and criminal damage.

Tim Akers, defending, said he admitted what he had done on the basis he was doing a favour for his brother, who was dealing drugs.

His client had been working at a factory making deserts, where he has been for three years, he said, having spent two years in jobs in hotels in London before that.

He said his brother had been deported to Poland to face other matters there and he was no longer in contact with him.

Passing sentence Recorder Malcolm Gibney said: "It is quite clear from the circumstances in which you were arrested that you were participating with your brother in possessing these drugs with intent to supply them to other people

"You brother, it seems, was dealt with on the face of it extremely lightly in that he pleaded , I am told, to possessing offences albeit referable to lesser quantities than you were found in possession of."

He imposed a 20 month jail term suspended for two years and told him to pay £800 court costs.

Damian Jedrzejewski, 28, of the Old Mill, Ashton Street, Trowbridge was fined for possessing cocaine and cannabis.
