THE force of love couldn’t be reckoned with on Friday as one couple tied the knot with the groom dressed as a Stormtrooper.
Naomi Riches, 38 and Floris Hussaarts, 39 of Cockhill, Trowbridge said ‘I do’ surrounded by close friends and family during the ceremony at County Hall.
The newly-married Mrs Hussaarts said the couple first met when they worked together at a care home in Holt.
After a couple of years, their friendship blossomed into love and they eventually got engaged.
She added: “It was our wedding day and he could have worn a bin bag for all I care, just so long we are happy. The day was just about us getting married and we didn’t want it to be a big fuss.”
Catching the eye of passersby, Mr Hussaarts has always been a fan of Star Wars.
He added: “I have always wanted to buy a proper Stormtrooper costume and I just needed an excuse of getting one really. When we got engaged I thought getting married would be the perfect one.
“The initial reaction from people was that they thought I was joking and that I wouldn’t go through with it but I said from the start I would and now look.”
Officiating the ceremony, Elaine Daly said she had never seen anyone get married in such a costume before despite marrying couples dressed in other movie-themed outfits.
She added: “Having Floris dressed as a Stormtrooper was rather amusing but it was very difficult to keep a straight face.
“By having couples come dressed in whatever they like makes the day for us because it is their day and it is all about whatever makes them happy.”
