A BUPA carer who had drunk two pints of lager and two glasses of wine drove home from a pub in Trowbridge after an argument despite people trying to stop her.

Lorraine Claire Glass, 46, of Lambrok Close pleaded guilty to drink driving, drug driving and possessing a class B drug on May 14 when sitting before magistrates at North Wiltshire Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Prosecutor Keith Ballinger told the court how Glass was trying to rekindle a relationship with a family member and had intended to catch a taxi home from the pub.

However, after an argument Glass drove home despite a family member stepping in front of the car and police later attended her address where they arrested her.

Glass had 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath and 238ug/L of Benzoylecgonine, 13ug/L of Cocaine and 2.1ug/L of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in her which all exceeded the prescribed limits.

When police arrested Glass in her home they also found a wrap of cannabis. She admitted that she had done cocaine the previous night.

Her defence Alexis Pink said: “She accepts she made a very stupid decision to get in a car and drive home. She told me she has let a lot of people down because of her own stupidity.”

Passing sentence, chair of the bench Maria Pitt disqualified Glass from driving for 20 months and ordered her to pay £320 in fines, a victim surcharge of £30 and £85 in costs. She was also offered the drink driving course.
