A 19-YEAR-OLD Trowbridge man is in custody this afternoon after being arrested suspicion of racially aggravated assault.
The incident is alleged to have happened at 8pm on August 8 as a 21-year-old woman was walking near to the library in Bythesea Road when she saw a man riding towards her.
Officers were told how he then started to shout at the woman and racially abused her.
It is then believed that when the woman asked him to leave her alone, he allegedly threw what is believed to be an apple at her causing redness to her back.
PC Mark Hough said: “Following extensive enquiries by officers, a 19-year-old Trowbridge man is currently in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault.
“Any witnesses to the incident, who have not already spoken to police, should call 101.”
