STUDENTS at Clarendon Academy are steadily improving their A Level results as hundreds of teenagers anxiously waited to find out how they fared today (Aug 18).

Yvonne Jorden, principal at Clarendon Academy said this year’s result, where 40 per cent of students achieved A*-B grades, was a great result for the school.

She added: “All of the students entered for A Level and BTEC passed their exams with no failures at all. This is truly impressive and a fantastic achievement for all the students in our inclusive Sixth Form. Students and teachers worked tirelessly in preparation for these exams and their tremendous efforts have paid off.”

Nadia Bakali, 18 managed to achieve A* in IT, B in business and C in geography – giving her the grades she needs to go to the University of the West of England to study international business management.

She said: “I really didn’t expect them at all but I’m so glad I’ve found out. It’s such a relief.”

Fellow student Ismail Negraj, 18 secured a B in maths and C in government politics while achieving a Distinction* in BTEC IT.

He said: “I am over the moon with my results. I am really pleased that my hard work has paid off and I can now take up my place at Portsmouth to study computer science.”

Natasha Weeks aspirations for being a teacher took one step closer after gaining ABB securing her space at Exeter studying history. Despite deferring the place for a year, she will soon take up a position as a teaching assistant in the coming months.

She said: “I didn’t think I would get a B in biology and I am overwhelmed by it all to be honest.”
