THE headteacher of St Augustine’s College in Trowbridge believes their high A Level attainment rate is testament to the hard work of both staff and students who opened up their results today (Aug 18).

A total of 84 per cent of students achieved the benchmark A*-C grades which headteacher Joe Alsop said he was delighted with.

He added: “I am delighted that the students can celebrate their examination results which are truly well deserved and have enabled them to access their first choice university or chosen career path. They worked hard to achieve this standard and should be very proud of not only their own successes but those of their friends too.

“These results and the education that they have received at St Augustine’s has created a strong foundation from which they can continue to grow and flourish.”

One star student was Hannah Fox who managed to bag A*s across the board and will now go on to study biomedical engineering at Imperial College London.

The 18-year-old said: “I have always been interested in engineering and I really wasn’t expecting these results at all. I was only expecting an A and B’s so I’m over the moon.”

Fellow student Hannah Thomas managed to get an A*, A, B and will go on to study human biosciences at the University of Exeter. She said: “I was hoping to get these results and I have tried to forget about this day and just enjoy my summer. I wasn’t until recently that people asked me about results day that I started to get nervous.”
