A BRAVE nine-year-old from Hilperton has bid a fond farewell to her long blonde locks for charity.

Jaime Ashley-Davies decided to have 13 inches cut off her tresses in hope of raising money to buy wigs for children who have lost their own hair through undergoing cancer treatment.

Jaime’s mum Jo said she couldn’t be more proud of her daughter for going through with it.

“A girl she knew did it a few weeks ago and Jaime has always had long hair,” the 32-year-old said. “She talked it over with me and how it would be donated to the Little Princess Trust which I thought was an amazing idea that she had thought about it on her own.

“She hasn’t had it done for that long but she managed to raise £140 in just four days and that just shows what an excellent effort it is that she has put other people in front of herself to do something like this.

“Everyone has got behind her and it is amazing to see how many people come out of the woodworks because they see her doing this incredible thing for charity.”

The brave cut was done by Loreta Jane-Pritchard, a close family friend, who donated her time for free. The hair will now be donated to the Little Princess Trust charity, which provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Each real human hair wig can cost up to £350 to make and the hair donated is used to create more life-like wigs for youngsters.

Mrs Davies added that while her two younger children Emma and Michael are still getting used to Jaime’s new look, she believes that her eldest child has set a real example to her siblings.

She said: “Jaime has never had her hair short before and even from when she was younger, she has only ever had it trimmed so for her to lose 13 inches was a big step and I’m so proud.”
