THE Trowbridge Players are bringing to the stage two short plays, both taking place a hotel room, in a production entitled Honeymoon Suite.

Written by Tony Layton, an ex-journalist and photographer, the plays features the same hotel room with different couples with the hotel porter with his 'see nothing', 'get you anything' attitude to his valued guests.

Something Old Something New revolves around ageing and fading pop star Jet Rush, played by Chris Pollock. He checks in to the bridal suite with Pat, his new wife, played by Maria Guiliani. She may be a new wife, but she’s been his PA for over 15 years, organising his life, touring with him and extricating him from the numerous problems caused by the excesses of his rock ‘n' roll lifestyle.

The marriage is, for him, a sham, another publicity stunt in an attempt to re-invigorate his flagging career. Pat though, has loved him since the moment they met, but has never seen the love returned. That’s not to say he doesn’t care for her; he just doesn’t realise that they’ve grown together as a couple.

Something Borrowed Something Blue features Paula, played by Jennifer Riddle, a married lady in her mid-40’s with grown-up children who works part-time in a large corporate office. Enrico is her manager and has persuaded her to join him for an illicit weekend in a luxury hotel. Still convinced that she will be his latest conquest, the tables turn on him after she finds out that she is the last of the office girls to have visited the honeymoon suite with him.

Honeymoon Suite, directed by Caroline Fielding, opens at the Arc Theatre next Wednesday, October 12 and runs till Saturday, October 15 at 8pm each night. Tickets at £9 and £7 conc are available from 01225 756376 or at www.arctheatre.org.uk.
