YEAR 4 pupils at The Grove Primary School in Trowbridge became world record breakers, albeit unofficially, on Wednesday, November 9.
Maple and Beech Class pupils broke the unofficial Guinness World Record for the most hugs given in 60 seconds.
They gave a total of 81 hugs which would have surpassed the current Guinness World Record of 79 hugs had it been recorded.
One pupil from each class was the hug recipient and each child took it in turn to deliver a hug.
There was huge excitement in the playground when pupils and staff realised they were world record breakers.
Maple Class Teacher Miss Denmeade said: “The determination and enthusiasm from the children was outstanding.
“They were amazed that they were able to break this world record after studying the record breaking talents of other people.”
