MCDONALD’S in the Spitfire Retail Park, Trowbridge, has submitted a planning application to extend its opening hours.

Currently the fast food restaurant is open from 7.30am until 11pm but if Wiltshire Council approves its plans it will be open from 6am until midnight daily.

Trowbridge Cllr Graham Payne said: “I’m against this as there isn’t any need for it.

“In addition to that, boy racers tend to gather in the car park after the rest of the retail park has closed and it upsets residents who live in Bradley Road.

“By staying open longer it’s only going to encourage more of them to congregate there and cause a nuisance.”

Wiltshire Council’s planners hope to make a decision by February 9.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an application has been submitted to extend the opening hours at our Trowbridge restaurant.

“We’re not aware of any current disruption regarding our Trowbridge restaurant car park and have not received any complaints from residents.

“We will continue to work with the local planning authority throughout the application process to ensure any concerns are addressed.”
