SWEET-toothed Trowbridge residents have reasons to be cheerful as a new sweet shop is set to open its doors in the heart of the town.

Garbanzo’s Sweet Shop & Ice Cream Parlour will be based in The Shires, next to Game at the Market Street entrance, and will open its doors this Saturday (February 18).

Relocating from its previous home in the Shambles Market Hall, Devizes, Garbanzo’s will offer a traditional sweet shop experience with an array of treats served and weighed from glass jars.

Shop owner and manager Paul Shore said: “I’m really looking forward to opening the shop in The Shires, where there has always been a sweet shop. Hopefully it will bring back a few memories.

“There’s something special about a visit to a traditional sweet shop and I’m looking forward to building the business into a local attraction to tempt nostalgic adults and curious youngsters alike."

At the grand opening on Saturday there will be a number of giveaways and special offers.

The shop will be open six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9.30am–5pm and in the future will also be open on Sundays from 10am–2.30pm.
