OVER 200 motorbikes took part in this year’s toy run from Hilperton to Bristol as kind-hearted bikers took a shedload of brand new toys to children at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Setting off from the King’s Arms, the 230 bikes including sport bikes and Harley-Davidsons were followed by two cars and a van filled with toys for children at the hospital to play with.

This year there was a very special guest on the run, Jayden Tomlinson-Parsons, from Bristol.

The motorbike-mad five-year-old, who has restrictive cardiomyopathy and is waiting for a heart transplant, asked if he could join in with this year’s run.

“Jayden was in a car right in the middle of the procession and he absolutely loved the journey,” said Mike Hayward, who organises the run with his wife Megan.

“We’re really happy we managed to get him on the run, which was by far one of the most successful ever.

“We delivered more toys to the hospital than ever before which was brilliant, all thanks to the generosity of the riders.

“Because we’ve taken the same route for so many years there were people who were aware of what we were doing and cheered us on from their windows along the way – we made quite a noise so they probably heard us coming a mile off.

“A big thank you must go to the Gorilla Bikers group from Westbury who donated loads of toys, to Mucky Dogs who did the brilliant marshalling and to KS Motors in Westbury for their support.”

The vast group of bikers stopped off at The Griffin pub on the outskirts of Bristol on their way to the hospital and met back at The Kings Arms after the event to have lunch and have a look at each other’s bikes.
