apetito has raised £20,000 for a charity which supports people with Alzheimer’s disease.

The company, based in Canal Road, presented the cheque to Grant Newton from Alzheimer’s Support and his team, as well as the centre’s visitors, on Tuesday morning at the charity’s base in Mill Street, Trowbridge.

Grant Newton, head of day care services at Alzheimer’s Support, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to apetito.

“Not only have they given us a vast amount of money, but their charity champions also spent a day at our centres in Trowbridge and Devizes to understand exactly how the money will help – most organisations don’t go to those lengths.

“Our centres are vibrant, joyful places which work to promote both wellbeing and normality.

“When people come here, the fact they have dementia just doesn’t matter – they can enjoy a day of absolute social normality.

“This also gives carers and families the opportunity of a whole day off, knowing their loved ones are happy and being well looked-after.”

The money was raised by the apetito team over the last 12 months by taking part in a number of events, such as the Bath Half Marathon and A Walk to Remember.

apetito’s charity partners are Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Support, helping to raise awareness of the challenges of living with dementia. In the last 12 months, apetito staff have raised £20,000 for each charity.

Paul Freeston, apetito chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have raised £20,000 for each of our chosen charities.

"The apetito team makes a real difference, ensuring we do all we can to increase awareness of dementia and raise money to help the charities on the frontline here in Wiltshire.”
