A MAN caught two youths in the act as they tried to set fire to his shed in Trowbridge.

Just before 5pm on April 22, the man in his 50s spotted the two youths, aged between 10 and 12, attempting to set fire to his shed in Sheridan Gardens.

He disturbed them and they ran off. The first youth is described as tall with curly black hair and the second youth is described as smaller with brown hair. Both were wearing black hooded tracksuits.

This is the second arson attack at Sheridan Gardens after suspects tried to burn down a block of flats on April 16 by starting fires in post boxes.

PCSO Ben Brown said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen these youths in the area at the time, or anyone who may know who they are.

“I’d also encourage parents to remind their children of the dangers of starting fires – they can get out of hand very quickly and those responsible are putting not just themselves, but other people in great danger.

“I’d like to remind residents to keep sheds and garages secure at all times. Please also look out for any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood and report it via 101, or if a crime is in progress, call 999.”

Anyone with information should call PCSO Ben Brown on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
