ORGANISERS of the Trowbridge Lions Club's May Fair said the event could not have gone better as hundreds lined Fore Street for one of the biggest events in the group's annual calendar.

The crowds were treated to dancing displays, such as Zumba, Irish, rock 'n' roll and Polish, and nearly 20 stalls showcasing the work of local charities and organisations.

There was also a tombola, bric-a-brac stalls and plenty of homemade cakes and treats for families to enjoy.

"We love putting on this event every year as we get really good crowds and everyone really enjoys it," said Trowbridge Lions member Richard Loverock.

"The weather was good, which always helps, and the atmosphere was lovely. It was good that charities and other organisations could promote their causes and mingle with the locals.

"This is one of our biggest events of the year and it really could not have gone much better. There was a lovely array of things to do for people and some of the dancing was fantastic.

"It is always good to have a street in the town buzzing and that was certainly the case on Saturday. It takes a lot of organisation but it really is worth it."

Mr Loverock was relieved that the event was able to go ahead after the cancellation of the Devizes Lions May Fair and the Trowbridge Lions car show in August.

"It was a relief that this went down nice and smoothly. We want to thank Wiltshire Council for helping with all the organisational things that needed doing," he added.
