AN air ambulance was called in to airlift a child to hospital from Trowbridge last night, after he was reported as having been seriously injured in an collision with a car.
The incident happened on Hammond Way, on the edge of Hilperton near the Kennet and Avon Canal, close to the roundabout at the junction with Thestfield Drive, the road which leads onto the Staverton Marina estate.
It is understood the child was involved in a collision with a Nissan Juke vehicle.
The Great Western Air Ambulance landed on the wide verge next to Hammond Way to airlift the child, who was treated by doctors from the Swift medic team and paramedics at the scene. He was flown to the Bristol Royal Infimary for treatment.
The roundabout and a section of Hammond Way were closed for some hours during the evening during police investigations into the collision.
