Wiltshire Police are appealing for information after a car and two handbags were stolen from a house in Trowbridge in the early hours of this morning.

The house in Bond Street was broken into at approximately 4am today, Thursday, August 3, and car keys and two handbags were stolen from inside.

A black Mazda Takuya was then stolen from outside but was later found in Lambrok Close in the Studley Green area. The handbags are still missing.

Sergeant Gill Hughes said: “This incident has obviously been very upsetting for the victim – we are doing all we can to investigate and find those responsible.

“We would like the public to help us – did you see or hear anything suspicious in the Bond Street area overnight? We think the incident happened around 4am.

“The vehicle was found in the Studley Green area, so we would also like to hear from anyone in this area who may have spotted any suspicious behaviour.

“I would like to continue to stress the importance of locking windows and doors overnight and every time you leave the house. Never leave a spare key in a hiding place like a plant pot or letter box as thieves know where to look. Please also ensure that all keys, purses and wallets are kept out of sight and away from doors and windows. Do not leave keys in locks.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
