Hundreds of foodies came out to taste the different flavours of the world this weekend when Trowbridge held it’s third cultural food festival.

Taste buds were flaring from many different spices, herbs and flavours as food from 14 different countries including Bangladesh, Lebanon, Morocco, and Nicaragua.

Each stall was set up members of minority communities to share with the people of Trowbridge their much loved food, as well as giving them an insight into their way of life.

Committee member and member of St James’ church David Wildman said: “It was a great event, and very successful judging by the amount of people who attended.

“We served over 13,000 tasters through out the day, and hundreds of people came out to discover the food of different cultures.

“The people of Trowbridge get to talk to people of different cultures and learn more about what life is like in their home countries.”

Members of the Mosque and St James’ Church in Trowbridge came together to arrange the event, which is the third of it’s kind, and is becoming increasingly popular with people in the area who are becoming more open to trying different types of food.

Many people took to social media to share their experience of the food tasting and learning about different cultures.

On Facebook, Vicky Stanley said: “ Had a really nice time and tasting all the different types of food, thank you.”

Kahled Taha said: “We came all the way from Royal Wootton Bassett and the event was extremely wonderful. My children are so excited to participate with Palestinian/Jordanian dishes.”

Rebecca Mehsen said: “It was a pleasure to attend and to be so involved with such a wonderful community and not to mention the beautiful food from all over the world. Thank you.”

Both the Mosque and St James' Church plan to hold the event again next year with even more countries from around the world being represented, and hope to carry on the tradition of multi-cultural food tasting in Wiltshire.
