A 21-year-old-man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an assault in Trowbridge this morning.

At around 4.15am, officers were called to reports of a disorder between a group of men on Wicker Hill.

The group had just left The Boutique nightclub when they were assaulted by another group.

All three victims sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment, one man was unconscious when paramedics arrived and remains in the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Acting Detective Sergeant Melissa Carr said: "This seems to have been an unprovoked assault, as a result of which three men were taken to hospital with significant injuries.

"I would like anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident to call us and tell us what they saw.

"The three suspects are described as white men in the mid 20s. Two of them have short dark hair, the other has fair hair.

"They are described as wearing jeans, trainers and short sleeved t-shirts and they were last seen heading off in the direction of County Way."

Castle street and Manvers Street in Trowbridge have been shut for further searching, causing traffic delays in the town.
