THINGS are on the up for the Trowbridge Community Hub as demand for its services is growing day by day.

The HUB at Ba14 in the Shires Shopping Centre opened its doors to the community in July, giving people access to community, voluntary and charitable groups in Wiltshire.

The goal was for members of the public to engage with members of the hub, contribute to their community, gain advice, share information, learning about organisations, advertise events, recruit volunteers and get people involved in activities and services.

Now as more than a dozen groups use the hub every week, and with nearly 20 others enquiring about using the place, project manager Lindsey Miller was very pleased with how things have gone in the first few months.

"What we are trying to do is bring different people and groups together and so far we have done that quite well. The interest keeps on rising," she said.

"The way it works is, groups like Trowbridge Lions, Men's Shed, Victim Support, Friends of Trowbridge Sensory Garden and Selwood Housing among others, call us up and ask to get a slot on any given week.

"One to one advice sessions are being delivered, referrals and signposting, sharing of community information and promotion of local events. Manned by volunteers, the Hub is a real community investment and a benefit to the town of Trowbridge.

"We welcome more using the place as these things can be a real asset to places."
