A TROWBRIDGE nightclub manager is hoping to make it the third win in a row when he attends an award ceremony in Birmingham n Saturday (Nov 25).

Scott Clist, 39, the manager of the Boutique Nightclub in Trowbridge, is also a pro Mixed Martial Arts fighter with the British and European titles under his belt.

But he’s not expecting the win to be for his prowess in the ring – Scott also writes film screenplays and writes and directs short films as a hobby.

He said: “Earlier this year, I wrote a feature film called ‘How We Fight’. It’s a sports drama based around the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and what drives people to compete in the fastest growing sport in the world.”

How We Fight has made it to the final (official selection) of the Feel the Reel International Film Festival and The Oaxaca International Film Festival – rated by Movie magazine as one of the top 50 film festivals around the world.

Now Scott has made the final of The Birmingham Film Festival and will be attending the award ceremony on Saturday, November 25 at the Hotel Indigo where he hopes to collect the award for Best Screenplay.

“My feature script is also entered into the Script Pipeline competition that will be decided in December but so far my screenplay has placed in the final of all three film festivals.”

Scott is no stranger to the film world, having started writing screenplays at the age of 15 for a school project, and having performed as an extra in fight scenes.

In the past, he has acted in Indie films and taken part in a couple of fight scenes, and has directed a ten-minute long short film called ‘Lost Soldiers’ about the Iraq War.

He sat down to write his award-winning screenplay in March and says it “just poured out of me”, taking only a few weeks to write and finishing the script by the end of April.

He’s lined up a producer and a sales agent in the United State of America and is now looking for funding or sponsorship of £250,000 to get the sports drama made in the new year.

“It’s about 99 minutes long and will take about four to six weeks to shoot. I’ve already got some actors in mind to play the lead parts if we can get the funding together.”
