A DRUG-DRIVER who was seven times over the limit ended up in court after police officers spotted him speeding on his motorcycle.
Charlie Smith, of Manor Road, Trowbridge, was stopped by police on his Yamaha motorbike just metres from his home on August 3 at about 11pm.
On Friday, Salisbury Magistrates’ Court heard that as soon as officers stopped the 23-year-old they could smell cannabis on him and he was arrested.
It was found that Smith had 14 mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system – the legal limit is two mcg.
Smith, who was unrepresented, said he was likely to lose his job if he was banned from driving and was currently on benefits as he had broken his hand.
Magistrates banned Smith from driving for 15 months, and ordered him to pay a fine of £135, £85 court costs and £35 victim surcharge.
