A KEEN Trowbridge cyclist will ride from his home town to Land's End and back and his son will join him for the last 50 miles.

Mike Alford, of Sylvester Drive, will take on the 450-mile ride in August in aid of the National Autistic Society and his autistic nine-year-old son Bradley will join him just south of Bridgwater in Somerset for the last leg.

Together the 48-year-old and the Walwayne Court pupil are hoping to raise £1,000 for the charity that is very close to the family's hearts.

"We are both really looking forward to it. Bradley has done a little bit of cycling but nothing as big as this," said Mr Alford.

"In the last few years I have lost more than eight stone from cycling, eating healthier and other exercises. I am taking part in the Prudential Ride London in July and then I will take on this challenge over four days a month later.

"My wife Becky and Bradley will see me off each morning, meet me at the halfway point and then see me at the end of each day.

"It is the biggest challenge I have ever done and to be fair I am thinking I must be barmy but it is for such a good cause."
