MEMBERS of the Trowbridge Town Bowls Club made the most of the sunshine on Saturday by hosting an open day that raised nearly £200 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Around 70 people, 40 of which were members, were treated to several hours of bowls, along with cake, craft and tombola stalls.

Secretary Fiona Watson was delighted at the turnout and how much they raised for an ‘amazing’ local cause.

“It was great to see so many people come out on what was a gloriously sunny day,” she said.

“We chose this charity because it is a charity that a lot of Trowbridge people identify with. It doesn’t get government backing so we wanted to do our bit.

“We contacted them not that long before the event and they were so appreciative that we were going to do this.

“I am very pleased that we raised this amount on the day and that a lot of people really enjoyed it and more members may join us too.”
