THE big Tesco store in Trowbridge officially opened a Vision Express branch to the public.

The opening coincided with a celebration, at the Tesco Express in County Way, led by International Glaucoma Association representative Eryl Williams.

He was on hand to help cut the ribbon on the premises and give his advice on the condition, which is thought to affect more than 15,000 people in Wiltshire’s Primary Care Trust.

Vision Express at Tesco Trowbridge store manager, Yan Li said: “With more than 15,000 locals living with glaucoma, we’re here to ensure their vision is the best it can be.

"We have over 100 ways to test your eyes, to assess how they’re working and help detect serious conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and increased risk of stroke.

"It’s great that Vision Express is now in such a convenient location for local people to drop in and get this essential health check, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the public in our opening week.”

Glaucoma is an eye condition where your optic nerve is damaged by the pressure of the fluid inside your eye - it can lead to sight loss and blindness.

The Trowbridge optical store is one of more than 200 Vision Express at Tesco outlets launching across the UK in 2018.
