TIME is running out for Trowbridge residents to nominate people who go the extra mile for the community.

Trowbridge Town Council is calling on locals to put forward individuals, groups, schools, clubs, organisations or businesses for seven award categories to be presented at this year’s town gathering at the civic centre on May 8.

The awards include club of the year, spirit of youth, public sector hero, charity fundraiser of the year, community champion, green award and mayor’s award.

Mayor Deborah Halik said: "I am sure there are so many worthy winners out there. We need more nominations for the spirit of youth, public sector hero and the green award too.

"I meet people every day who do great things for this town and we think they deserve to be recognised for their efforts."

All nominees will be invited to the event, where the mayor will announce the winner and invite them to say a few words.

To nominate someone email Aby.Cooper@trowbridge.gov.uk before the deadline on Friday, April 27, at midday.

The event runs from 6.30-9.30pm and for more information call 01225 765072.
