A MALE driver was rushed to the Royal United Hospital in Bath with head injuries following a crash in Chippenham  in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.

The man was trapped in an upturned car following a road traffic collision in Hardenhuish Lane.

Two crews from Chippenham and an officer were called out at 00:48am following reports of a vehicle that had overturned after the crash.

Crews freed one man from the car using hydraulic equipment. Police and South Western Ambulance Service also attended.

The South Western Ambulance Service said they were called out at 12.50am and treated one patient with head injuries.

The man was later taken to the RUH in Bath for further treatment.

Corsham fire station provided cover at Chippenham while the man was freed from the vehicle.

In a second incident in the early hours, a crew from Trowbridge was called out at 00:58am following reports of a skip on fire in Islington.

The crews were swiftly in attendance and used hose reels to put out the fire.
