TALENTED school pupils showed off their public speaking skills at the sixth edition of the Young Voice of Trowbridge.
St Augustine’s hosted the event, organised by Trowbridge in Bloom, and saw Year 8, 10 and 12 pupils present arguments on subjects such as plastic waste, the damage to the oceans and the fate of the bumble bee.
After a hard fought debate Clarendon Academy were judged as overall winners, having won the Year 8 and 10 debates, whilst John of Gaunt won the Year 12 battle, ahead of St Augustines.
Trowbridge in Bloom chairman, Jennifer Polledri, said: “It was an extremely successful event. Their knowledge of global issues was so impressive. I think this was the best one we have ever done.
“Every single person who spoke did a wonderful job, they should be very proud. The schools were a credit to the town.”
A total of 27 students spoke on the night at St Augustine’s, having got through school heats.
