WHEELCHAIR users can enjoy easier and safer access to a social club in Steeple Ashton after a new disabled ramp was installed.

Wiltshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers meet regularly at the St Mary’s School building, High Street, but for the last year, the old wheelchair ramp to the group’s studio has fallen into disrepair.

After raising around £1,000 themselves, a £6,825 funding boost from Hills Group Ltd enabled them to build the ramp, much to everyone’s delight.

“This is a great boost for us. We are really pleased this has happened,” said chairman Valerie Laverick.

“The money has been made available through the Landfill Communities Fund which is administered for Hills by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire.

“We are also grateful to The Walter Guinness Trust, Andover, for their contribution.”
