11:12am Thursday 9th February 2012 in Trowbridge
A Trowbridge shopping centre is planning a series of fun and free family events in 2012, starting with the February half term.
The Shires shopping centre’s manager Sarah-Louise Moore has announced a range of events to celebrate a host of national events including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and football’s Euro 2012.
Miss Moore, who took over the manager’s role in November, says she is determined to make The Shires a centre of attraction, and all the events will be free.
She said: “We realise how financially tough it is for our customers at the moment and want to put on shows and entertainment that will encourage them to visit Trowbridge instead of having to spend extra money on petrol and parking to go to the likes of Bristol, Bath or Swindon.
“The details of our events haven’t been finalised and we’ll let people know on our website when they are. But we’ve got a lot of plans in the pipeline and they’ll all be totally free.”
The centre’s entertainment begins in the schools’ half-term next week when youngsters will be able to get up close and even handle snakes, spiders, including tarantulas, lizards and other creepy crawlies when the Animal Antics roadshow visits on February 17.
Animal Antics' founder John Conlan will keep everyone amused and entertained between 10am and 4pm with his exotic creatures and at the same time tell them about all their habits and habitats.
On Thursday, February 16, between 11am and 3pm there will also be the chance for youngsters to get their face painted with a design of their choice.
