Trowbridge torchbearer Wayne Palmer will be visiting an opticians on Saturday to launch their open day.

The 40-year-old is a committed fundraiser who carried the Olympic Torch through his home town of Trowbridge in May.

He is set to appear at an Olympic-themed open day at Haine & Smith Opticians in Trowbridge this Saturday. Dispensing Optician Melanie Steel, who has been helping to organise the event, said: "I am very excited that Wayne had agreed to come along. This will be a fantastic opportunity for anybody that missed seeing the Olympic Relay or just wants to get a closer look at the torch.”

The practice, based in The Shires shopping centre, will be offering the chance to win £1000 holiday vouchers when they book a free trial of new contact lenses, while it will also be serving patriotic cakes, giving away free balloons and goody bags plus holding an Olympic themed art competition for children.
