Work starts on Biss Meadows pond
6:20pm Monday 10th September 2012 in Trowbridge By Chris Melvin
After almost two years of preparation work the Friends of Biss Meadows Country Park have started to restore the pond area.
The six-week project will see old structures replaced with a new platform in green oak, together with a ramp to provide easy access to a dipping area. There will also be a community inspired mosaic, a refurbished viewing area with new seating, new and refurbished paths, a new footbridge and improvements to the pond habitat.
The £70,000 project is funded by the Big Lottery Community Spaces programme, Community First’s Landfill Tax and supported from Wiltshire Council and the Town Council.
The group hopes to encourage use of the park by community groups and families in the local area.
Membership of the Friends of Biss Meadows Country Park is free and events or working parties are organised every month. For more information visit www.bissmeadows.org.uk
