Addict dealt to fund own drugs habit

A man who sold hard drugs to fund his own habit has been jailed for three years.

Mark Nurdin, of Shearman Street, Trowbridge, bought more heroin and crack cocaine than he needed, then sold the excess to others.

Although police only found small quantities of drugs in three raids on his home, his mobile phone was full of evidence of his drug dealing.

Tessa Hingston, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court police executed warrants on the 31-year-old’s home in June, September and December last year.

She said: “On each occasion, drugs paraphernalia was found, together with small quantities of the drugs. The total quantity of heroin seized was 3.63 grams. That’s the entire quantity from three raids. Cocaine, in the crack form, was 3.67 grams.”

She said police also found more than £1,000 in cash, some of it concealed in a cash box inside a drawer.

Nurdin admitted two counts of possession with intent to supply between June 23 and December 16 last year.

Alex Daymond, defending, said Nurdin was not a dealer who kept a stock of drugs and added: “He is someone who is selling from his own purchased supply of heroin and crack.”
