Green Jackets from Warminster rock Gibraltar for weekend
10:00am Thursday 24th October 2013 in Warminster
Seven couples from the Wiltshire branch of the Royal Green Jackets Regimental Association spent a long weekend in Gibraltar recently.
All except one couple, who were members of the Royal Artillery, had served with the regiment, who were posted to Gibralter twice, the 2nd Battalion in 1975-1977 and the 3rd Battalion in 1989-1991.
RGW were posted to Warminster from 1986-1988 and again in 2001-2003.
The group enjoyed brilliant sunshine over the weekend.
Welcome drinks were hosted by WO1 Gary Mitchell, Gibraltar Command Warrant Officer, in the WO’s & SR Mess in Devils Tower Camp. He also took the group on a tour of the Second War World tunnels within The Rock on Sunday.
Gail Francis of The Gibraltar Tourist Board took the group on a tour of The Rock’s attractions, including St Michaels Caves, The Great Siege Tunnels and the Barbary Apes.
