Final comments on an unpopular planning application for a development of 60 homes at land off Bath Road and Church Street in Warminster should be submitted to Wiltshire Council by Tuesday.

Redrow Homes submitted the planning application for a development, including a range of properties from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, despite opposition from the town.

The proposals resulted in an unprecedented turnout at a Warminster Town Council planning advisory meeting held in November, with residents voicing their disapproval over the plans.

A petition of 643 signatures against the plan was also handed in, with many citing the possibility of flooding in the area plus an increase in traffic and environmental damage as reasons for refusal.

The town council’s planning advisory committee voted unanimously for refusal. The plans will now go before Wiltshire Council.
