New Warminster charity Cornerstone, which hopes to help relieve poverty and distress, opened it doors for the first time last week Mayor of Warminster Andrew Davis joined volunteers and members of the public for the event, as he unveiled the Cornerstone sign to signify its opening.

The charity, which is based in the Citizens Advice Bureau building in Central Car Park, is aimed at promoting social inclusion and cohesion among people in the Warminster community.

The official opening was preceded by prayers and blessings led by church leaders from Warminster and the surrounding villages, with volunteers providing cake and hot drinks.

Cllr Davis said: “It was an honour to open the building for Cornerstone. I want to congratulate the volunteers who have been trained to act as advisors and help those who need it most.

“Cornerstone has invested a lot of time and effort and I wish them every success.”

Cornerstone, which also has a job club, will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am-12.30pm. See www.cornerstone-warminster.org or call 01985 220657.
