A WARMINSTER animal lover is desperate be reunited with her missing cat.

Charlotte Atkinson of Pound Street, Warminster, is appealing for people in the area to look out for her six-and-a-half-year-old cat Misty who went missing on November 12.

Mrs Atkinson, 30, who also owns two other cats, a dog and two tortoises, has already posted pictures of her missing feline on Facebook and Twitter as well as posters and fliers in the local area.

Mrs Atkinson, who works for Wessex Water, said: “Social media is a great way of getting your message across to a larger group of people, and I have had a lot of kind words and offers of help in my search.

“Unfortunately there are that awful few that have crass or nasty comments about the situation you have found yourself in.

“In particular, being told that I was an irresponsible owner, and that if I was loving, then my cat wouldn’t have run away.

“Some people don’t seem to understand that there are many circumstances that could happen for any animal to take flight.”

Mrs Atkinson has already contacted the council and her vets, Harris Hill and Giddons, as well as registering her cat’s microchip details on Scanner Angel – used by the council to scan deceased animals – but all to no avail.

“The worry of her being knocked down by a vehicle or poisoned by anti-freeze/rat poison or any other type of chemical that may leak is unbearable,” she said.

“It is definitely the ‘not knowing’ that is the worst part of it all.”

Anyone with information can call Mrs Atkinson direct on 07745 718746 or call Animal Search UK on 0800 4 320 340 quoting Misty’s reference number 206270.
