DRESSES and outfits designed by students from Kingdown School will be making their way along the catwalk next week for the school's fashion show.

More than 60 youngsters from Year 7 up to Year 11 will be taking part in the event to showcase items that many of them have spent all year designing.

Past years have seen more than 200 parents and fabric enthusiasts come to the show, which is free and will be held on Wednesday (April 22).

Jo Dyson, head of textiles at the Warminster school, said: “The children get really excited but also really nervous, some more than others, but once they’ve done it they’re elated and they have a good time.

“The theme that we’ve got for this year is a bit punk/rock and we will have a number of students from all different years taking part even some from Year 7 and 8, who have designed capes or something similar to throws.

“Year 9s have designed bags, the Year 10s have made black dresses and the Year 11s have made a range of items as part of their GCSEs.

“This is really important to them and so valuable so they can showcase what they have made and created and the fashion show is sort of like a celebration of what they have done.”
