WARMINSTER company Hussey Seatways will receive £300,000 as part of a joint deal for putting in seats at Northern Ireland’s biggest indoor arena.

Located at Crusader Park, Centurion Way, the company will provide the retractable structure for almost 3,000 seats at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, in collaboration with fellow seat supplier Bluecube.

The deal with the Warminster firm comes as the Odyssey Trust seek to revitalise the landmark arena in conjunction with a £100m extension of the Odyssey complex.

The Odyssey Arena can hold 11,000 people and has witnessed a range of sporting events and live music performances since it opened in 2000, including Beyonce, Lady Gaga and One Direction.

Director David Black said: “We are looking forward to working on another successful collaboration with Bluecube. This project involved a complex bid process and was hard fought.

“In the end, our depth of experience and thorough approach ensured that we were successful at the panel selection.

“This will be an exciting project and we are thrilled to be involved in the revitalisation of such a prominent venue.”

The deal is just one of many Hussey Seatways are involved in, with projects taking place across the globe in America, the North Sea and Hong Kong as well as countless other locations.

Last year the company installed almost 20,000 seats in more than 100 facilities with their seating at the Library of Birmingham being put up forward for several awards, including being shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival.

Mr Black added: “We’re expanding every year, when we started in 2003 it was just three people but now we have 22 people fully employed and we’re aiming to keep on growing and get to £5million turnover a year.

“We’ve done projects all over the world from providing retractable seating on an oil rig in the North Sea to jobs in Norway and we’ve got a big job south of South San Francisco, beating off huge American companies in the process.

“We’re expanding into the sport and leisure field as well with projects at Ellesmere Port Leisure Centre and Oldham Leisure Centre and we’re becoming a very global company.”
