Pupils at Horningsham Primary School made a splash last week by taking first place in the Small Schools Swimming Gala.

Held at Kingdown Pool on May 20, the children took first place in 17 of the 33 races giving them overall victory.

PE co-ordinator Odele Lapham said: “I am so proud of our swim squad this year, they have worked very hard and it has certainly paid off.

“We are very lucky to have so many talented and passionate swimmers at our school, not to mention our enthusiastic parents who always cheer us on.”

Parent Karen Saunders added: “The joy on the children’s faces was immense and was testament to all the effort and the fantastic teamwork they all showed.

“Parents love to support their children during events such as these and it makes it extra special when you can share in the celebrations and pride of the winning team containing your own children and their friends.

“For such a small school this is a fantastic achievement and Horningsham should be very proud.”
