WARMINSTER Town Council is looking to recognise the help and good work that young people bring to the town with its new Junior Civic Award.

The award has been introduced to acknowledge the deeds of 12 to 18-year-olds who volunteer and help in the community, alongside the Civic Award which has been going for more than 20 years.

The recommendation for the new award was put forward by Warminster Mayor Sue Fraser at the last town council meeting last Monday (June 29) and was approved by councillors.

She said: “I think it’s important for young people to get recognised.

"There are so many groups that get involved in the town and so many of them do excellent work.

“I’d like to get younger people more involved, they need to feel that they are wanted and valued.”

Members of the public are asked to nominate who they think deserves to win both awards before August 28.

Nomination forms can be found at the Civic Centre on Sambourne Road or online at warminster.uk.com.
